The Kupa river is one of the four great rivers in Croatia and has its source in Risnjak National Park. The source consists of two 8m wide holes in the ground from which water flows summer and winter at a temperature of 7 degrees Celcius. The colours are spectacular and make any photos seem enhanced. Now and then, fish can be seen jumping out of the water for flies.

 

Just outside the park boundaries, the river Kupa offers many activities, such as rafting and swimming. For those interested, there are also fly fishing opportunities. A day permit can be bought for 200-250kn. Strict rules apply. The centre of these activities is Brod na Kupi, which is only 5km from Skrad.
